AmbassadorForADay Contest Winner

We are so proud of Chatchasa Puttarak (Ying), first-year PGS student who was one of the thirty two winners of a UN event entailed that winners ‘shadow’ a woman ambassador or leader of the United Nations for International Women’s Day 2024 and attend the Asia-Pacific Regional Commemoration of International Women’s Day at the UNESCAP. She also received a certificate of appreciation for being one of the winners.

The winners were given grand opportunity to meet with Ms Panudda Boonpala, ILO (International Labour Organization) Deputy Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific as well as the other members of ILO, Ms. Xiaoyan Qian (director of ILO for Thailand), Mr. Ken Chamuva Shawa (head/senior economist), Mr Steven Needham (Regional Communication and Public Information Officer), Deepa Bharathi (Chief Technical Advisor), and Dr. Yuka Ujita (Senior Specialist on Occupational Safety and Health).

On 4 April 2024, our esteemed guest speaker, Mr. Oktavianto Pasaribu, Deputy Director of Decent Work Technical Support Team for East and South-East Asia and the Pacific and Country Office for Thailand, Cambodia, and Lao People’s Democratic Republic, took a stage at PGS in the topic “Labor Policy Formulation and Implementation“ in PGS’s Public Policy course. His insight and experience in his position as Deputy Director has been an eye-opening lecture for PGS students to understand the current situation in labor force from the expert in that field.

PGS Student secured 1st Top Best Speakers in one of Thailand’s most prestigious university debate tournament : "English Debate Competition 2024" (Lawyers Day)

We are so proud of Pantari Rattanasampan (Éclair), first year PGS student who represented Chulalongkorn University and PGS faculty in the prestigious English Debate Competition 2024 in honor of National Lawyers Day, organized by the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the Royal Patronage and several famous international law firms including BakerMcKenzie and Herbert Smith Freehills. Team Chula 2 ( Topaz Payungthum (LLBEL 1st Year), Aaron Luke Reyes Nuqui (BBA 2nd Year), Pantari Rattanasampan (Éclair) (PGS 1st Year).

Our student’s team of 3 made it through 6 preliminary rounds, all the way to securing GRAND CHAMPIONS of the tournament. Going up against Thammasat University in the last round. The Grand finals round was live streamed publicly with over 9.6k citizens watching.

Exceptionally, Pantari Rattanasampan (Éclair) got the highest speaker score in the entire tournament leading her to excellently receive the 1st Best Speaker score in the entire tournament! With great recognition from important law firms internationally and nationally, Éclair has been specially selected to work for several Law internships.

On 31 October 2023, our esteemed guest speaker, Khun Kannika Kittivejkul from FTA Watch for a wonderful special lecture on the topic “The impact from Free-trade negotiations“ to our students in PGS’s Global Political Economy. at Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University.

PGS x MAIDS-GRID Global Series 5

On Wednesday 11 October, PGS x MAIDS-GRID were honored to welcome H.E. Jonathan Kings, New Zealand Ambassador to Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos as Global Ed Series #5 guest speaker on Sustainability in Public Management. The Ambassador shared with us examples of notable sustainability initiatives and programmes in New Zealand that are the results and benefits of citizen engagement, transparency, and responsibility of the public sector. We enjoyed the session and questions by attendees. Thank Ambassador Kings and New Zealand Embassy - Bangkok, Thailand !

PGS students visit Asian Development Bank

On Wednesday 11 October 2023, Year 4 Administration & Society Class had an opportunity to visit the Asian Development Bank, Thailand office to learn about ADB's roles as an example of an international organization assisting countries’ development in the region. We would like to thank Khun Roykaew Nitithanprapas, Khun Chitchanok Annonjarn, and Khun Krittayamon Paocharoen for their time and sharing with us about their work. And thank you ADB Thailand!

On 3 October 2023, our esteemed guest speaker, Khun Noppatjak Attanon, a Team lead Online Editor and Digital Content Creator from Workpoint Entertainment, took a stage at PGS in the topic “New Media Landscape in Thailand” in PGS’s Media and Political Imagination course. His insights about challenges that traditional media and news agency has to face in the digital age in Thailand where social media has strong influence on Thai people. His insights empowering our students with a deeper understanding about how media both tradition and social media played their roles in media stream.
